featuring the art of John Duckworth

  ARTIST BIO:
Walking the line between realism and abstraction, John Duckworth infuses his photographs with an intimate knowledge of nature, a passion for pure color, and a rhythm drawn from life itself.

A native of California, Duckworth was drawn to the lush lowlands of coastal South Carolina in 1994, and has recently settled in a 100-year-old farmhouse turned state-of the-art printing, framing, and painting studio on Johns Island. Formally trained in painting and photography, John received his B.A. in Studio Art from the College of Charleston after a short foray into biological science—an influence still evident in his subject matter today.

Influenced primarily by the natural world, Duckworth also draws inspiration from the vivid colors of Wayne Thiebaud, the quiet solitude of Edward Hopper, and the serene expressions of Mark Rothko. Through constant exploration and curiosity, John’s body of work encompasses several interrelated series that together reveal an ongoing dialogue between place and process.

John has exhibited internationally in more than 30 solo and group shows, and his work resides in private and corporate collections around the globe.
